Namrita Malla was born on 4 October 1998 in New Delhi. Her family has Nepali ancestry — the Malla community originates from the hills, and that surname is common across Nepal and parts of North India. She grew up in Delhi in a middle-class Hindu family.
She went to Satyawati Sood Arya Girls’ Senior Secondary School in Delhi and later completed her graduation from Delhi University. Dance was always in the picture — she was participating in competitions during school itself, not as a side hobby but as something she took seriously.
Her father Krishna Malla passed away in 2023 due to liver-related illness. She shared her grief on social media after it happened. She has a sister she calls “Chotti” online — real name not public. The two appear together occasionally on Instagram. Her mother’s name has not been disclosed.
After class 12, she joined Zenith Dance Troupe in Delhi under her guru Suraj. That was the foundation — she trained in multiple dance styles and started performing at live stage shows and cultural events across India. In 2017, Zenith Dance Troupe won the EEMA Award, and she was part of that team.
For a period, she worked as a belly dancer and cheerleader for the Delhi Daredevils cricket team. That role gave her early visibility in a context most people don’t associate with film or music careers — stadium crowds, live performance pressure, no second takes.
In 2014, she started a self-titled YouTube channel uploading dance videos. The growth was gradual. Then COVID happened.
During the 2020 lockdown, Namrita started posting workout and dance reels on Instagram. That was when everything shifted. Her bold, unapologetic style — fitness videos, photoshoots, performance clips — caught an audience fast. She crossed 3.7 million followers on Instagram, and that number has only climbed since.
She didn’t manufacture a brand image with a PR team. She just posted consistently and let the content do the work. The workout reels especially spread because they were genuinely good — she knew how to move, and it showed.
Her film debut was in the Telugu film Shiva 143 in 2020 — supporting role, mixed reception. After that she appeared in Chor Bazaar (2022), then Ahimsa (2023) which starred Siddharth in the lead, and Don Kumara (2023) in Kannada. In 2025, she appeared in Paramapadha Sopanam — a Malayalam film.
Four languages across five years of film work — Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam. Not bad for someone who primarily built her name through social media and live performance.
This is where most of her work lives. Music videos across Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Telugu, and Hindi — a long list. Notable ones:
Punjabi: Sat Rang Da Dupatta (2016), Crop Top (2017), Barishan (2017)
Telugu: Nallani Kaatuka from Maro Prema Katha (2021)
Hindi: Sookha (2022), Balma from Jaggu Ki Lalten (2022)
Bhojpuri: Lal Ghagra (2022), Chadhal Jawani Rasgulla (2023), Jawani Kya Achaar Dalogi (2023), Pistol Dupatta Mein (2023)
The Bhojpuri numbers are where she earned the “item queen” tag. High-energy, high-viewcount, and the kind of performances that travel on YouTube long after release.
Namrita is Hindu. The Malla surname connects to a community with roots in Nepal — historically associated with ruling clans and hill communities across the Nepal-India border region. She is a practising Hindu and has mentioned visiting temples in interviews. Her faith is not something she discusses extensively but it’s not absent from her life either.
She goes by @namritamalla on Instagram with 3.7 million+ followers. Her content is unapologetic — bold photoshoots, performance videos, fitness reels, occasional family moments. She got a Bollywood Life Bhojpuri Award nomination for Social Media Queen in 2022, which tells you something about how the industry sees her digital presence.
YouTube channel running since 2014 — mostly dance content. Her annual Instagram income alone is estimated around ₹2 Crore.
Estimated at ₹4 Crore as of 2025. Monthly income around ₹30–40 Lakh from brand deals, stage shows, music video fees, Instagram collaborations, and film work. She has built this without a production house backing, a big debut film, or industry connections. Social media first, everything else second — that’s the model.
