Nicolas Jackson was born on 20 June 2001. His birthplace has two versions — most general sources say Banjul, The Gambia, while official profiles from Chelsea and Bayern Munich list Djibonker, Senegal. Both are likely true in different ways — his father is Gambian and his mother Senegalese, and he grew up moving between the two countries.
In 2017, following political unrest in The Gambia after the 2016 presidential election crisis, his family relocated to Ziguinchor in southern Senegal. That move, however difficult at the time, ended up being significant for his football development. Ziguinchor is where Casa Sports — one of the most famous clubs in Senegalese football — is based.
He is a Christian, which is notable in a country where over 90% of Senegal’s population is Muslim. Jackson wears his faith openly and has referenced it in interviews.
Before Casa Sports, he played for local side ASC Tilene. At Casa Sports he was part of the first team squad during 2018–19, even earning a man of the match award in a league draw. That was enough for Villarreal to take notice — he signed with the Spanish club in September 2019 at just 18 years old.
He went on loan to CD Mirandés in the Segunda División for 2020–21, then returned to Villarreal and worked his way through the B team. In the 2022–23 La Liga season he scored 12 goals in 26 appearances for the main squad — that was the number that put him on Chelsea’s radar.
Chelsea signed him for £32 million in June 2023 on an eight-year contract. Big expectation, big price tag, and significant pressure from day one.
His first full season — 2023/24 — he scored 14 Premier League goals in 35 appearances. Decent output for a first year in the Premier League, though missed chances and some high-profile misses made him a talking point. He had what you’d call a love-hate relationship with sections of the Chelsea fanbase that season.
In 2024/25 he scored 10 Premier League goals in 30 games, and importantly contributed to Chelsea winning the UEFA Conference League — their first European trophy in years. He also played in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.
On transfer deadline day in September 2025, Jackson joined FC Bayern Munich on a season-long loan. He made his Bayern debut coming off the bench in a 5–0 win over Hamburg. In the 2025–26 Bundesliga campaign he has 4 goals in 17 appearances, with 3 Champions League goals in 8 games as well. His loan runs until 30 June 2026, after which he returns to Chelsea.
Jackson has picked up red cards during his Chelsea career. Notably, he received a red card against Newcastle in May 2025. He also received one during the FIFA Club World Cup against Flamengo. He has a tendency to be overly aggressive in pressing situations, which sometimes tips into recklessness. His disciplinary record is something he has been working on.
Jackson made his senior Senegal debut on 21 November 2022 in the FIFA World Cup group stage in Qatar. As of 2026, he has 31 caps and 8 international goals.
He played in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scoring twice in the opening group game against Botswana. Senegal reached the final against hosts Morocco. In the final, Jackson played 89 minutes before being substituted just before a controversial penalty was awarded. Senegal initially appeared to win the title but were later stripped of it. The exact circumstances of that ruling made significant headlines across African football.
He also helped Senegal qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring in qualifiers against DR Congo and South Sudan.

Jackson’s estimated net worth is around $5 to 7 million as of 2025–26. His Chelsea salary of approximately £100,000 per week — around £5.2 million a year — is the main driver. Add Nike endorsements and other brand deals on top of that. He owns property in London and Senegal and is known for keeping a fairly low-key lifestyle compared to many players at his level.
